Nuclear technologies and generation will be a topic of discussion at Enlit Africa 2025
Loyiso Tyabashe, Group CEO of the South African Nuclear Energy Corporation (Necsa), thinks realism is creeping into the conversations the world is having around the need for reliable baseload energy for the sustainable development of countries.
“I’ve seen that the likes of the European Union have spoken about tripling nuclear.
“I’ve also seen that in Africa, several countries have started to accelerate their activities around their roles in deploying nuclear energy.
“South Africa is not excluded from that list in that our Integrated Resources Plan currently does have an allocation for nuclear energy as part of the energy mix,” says Tyabashe.
“I believe that the acceptance of nuclear technologies – that is the conversation we need to continue having with societies.”
He will be a speaker on the panel Building Consensus: Regional Transmission Projects at Enlit Africa 2025. Watch the video to find out what else the Necsa head thinks about nuclear technologies innovation in Africa.
